Patrol

The command structure that supervises and manages the patrol division is comprised of one (1) Patrol/Investigations Captain, one (1) Patrol/Investigation Lieutenant, and two (2) Patrol Sergeants. The patrol division consists of twelve (12) full time certified deputies who work six (6) days on duty followed by three (3) days off. Patrol coverage is 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. 

The Sheriff’s Office is contracted to provide law enforcement services to townships and villages in Jackson County. The Sheriff’s Office continues to maintain contracts with the Village of Taylor and Town of Millston. The Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with three villages, created a full-time deputy position to be assigned to the Villages of Alma Center, Hixton and Merrillan.

The deputies assigned to the Patrol Division are the first contact and initial law enforcement response to calls and complaints received by the communications center within their jurisdiction. Patrol deputies have additional responsibilities including, but not limited to, serving civil process, premise checks, case follow-ups and traffic enforcement.

Jackson County Sheriff's Office K-9 Units

The Sheriff's Office has three (3) Canine (K9) units that are owned by Jackson County. 

Sgt. Stan Edington - K9 Legend (dual purpose patrol)

Deputy Scott Thorson - K9 Cash (dual purpose patrol)

Deputy Joseph Haag - K9 Oaklee (trail - tracking bloodhound)

The Sheriff's Office has access to additional K9 units that are personally owned by the part-time deputies. 

Deputy Mark Moan - K9 Gus (trail - tracking bloodhound)

Deputy Marion Byerson - K9 Hondo (explosive detection)
