Register of Deeds

WELCOME TO THE JACKSON COUNTY REGISTER OF DEEDS OFFICE

THE DUTIES OF OUR OFFICE INCLUDE:

To record all deeds, mortgages, land contract, easements, corporation records, lis pendens, certified survey maps and instruments authorized by law to be recorded.  Prices of recordings are $30.00 per document. 

To file birth, death, marriage and military discharge records.  If the person on record was either born or died in one county and resident of Jackson County (or vice versa), the record should be filed in both counties.

Our land records start in 1854.  You may request copies of land records for $2.00 first page and $1.00 each additional page.

Our vital records start at 1876.  We have some early marriage records starting at 1854. 

Outside of our office, Jackson County has a history room located in the public library with additional county information.  If you are interested in genealogy, you may click on history room for more literature.
