Overview

Jackson County Jail provides a range of structured programs and essential services designed to support public health and public safety. Our programs are designed to reduce recidivism, promote public safety, address criminogenic needs, and provide support during incarceration.

Together, these programs and services aim to create a safer facility environment while preparing individuals for successful reintegration into the community.

Medical Health Services

Medical Health Services is available on-site and includes routine health assessments, chronic disease management, urgent care, and coordination with outside providers when necessary. Medical staff also collaborate with behavioral health teams to support individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.

Behavioral Health Services

Behavioral health services within jails focus on addressing the mental health and substance use needs of incarcerated individuals. These services typically include comprehensive assessments to identify mental health conditions and substance use disorders, followed by tailored treatment plans. These services aim to stabilize individuals, reduce recidivism, and facilitate smoother transitions to community-based care upon release.

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is available for individuals diagnosed with substance use disorders, particularly opioid and alcohol dependence. MAT combines FDA-approved medications with counseling and behavioral therapies to support recovery, reduce withdrawal symptoms, and lower the risk of relapse and overdose. Participation is coordinated by medical and behavioral health staff to ensure continuity of care during and after incarceration.

Case Management Services

Case Management Services are provided to help inmates identify personal goals and connect with resources. Case managers work with individuals to develop reentry plans, coordinate services such as housing and employment referrals, and ensure linkage to community-based care upon release.
