Specialty/Treatment Courts
Specialty courts are problem-solving courts that address specific case types by focusing on the underlying issues that bring people into the justice system. Instead of relying only on traditional punishment, these courts combine judicial oversight with treatment, education, and support services. Common examples include drug courts, mental health courts, and family or youth courts. By bringing together judges, attorneys, service providers, and community partners, specialty courts aim to reduce repeat offenses, improve public safety, and help participants make lasting, positive changes in their lives.
In Jackson County, specialized courts include Adult Drug Court, Family Treatment Court, and a Post-Charge Diversion Program.
