Medicaid
Medicaid is a joint federal/state program established
in 1965 under Title XIX of the Social Security Act to pay for medical services
for people with disabilities, people 65 years and older, children and their
caretakers, and pregnant women who meet the program's financial requirements.
The purpose of Wisconsin Medicaid is to
provide reimbursement for and assure the availability of appropriate
medical care to persons who meet the criteria for Medicaid.

BadgerCare
Badger Care is a Medicaid program that provides health care
coverage for uninsured, low income working families with children.

Family Planning Waiver (FPWP)
The Family Planning Waiver is a Medicaid Program for women
between the ages of 15 and 44, that have an income at or below the 185% poverty
level and are not currently receiving Badger Care, Healthy Start or Wisconsin
Medicaid. Under the FPWP, certain
family planning services and supplies are included.

Healthy Start
Healthy Start is a Medicaid Program that pays for medical
care for pregnant women, babies and children under 19 years of age. It covers most babies until they are one
year of age, even if the family’s income increases. Families with health insurance may apply.

Food Share
The Food Share Program, previously known as Food Stamp
Program, helps people who have limited
money buy the food they need for good health.
Eligibility for the program is determined and benefits are deposited
into a participant’s account using and Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT)
system, and are spent using a debit card called the Wisconsin QUEST Card.
In accordance with
Federal law and U.S. Department of Agriculture policy, this agency is

Food Share Elgibility
Food Share Eligibility is for individuals or families,
people of all ages who are employed but have low incomes, are living on small
or fixed incomes, have lost their jobs, retired or have disabilities and cannot
work. For a participant to be eligible,
they must file an application, interview with an agency worker, meet basic eligibility
rules, provide proof of eligibility and in some cases register for work.

Food Share Benefits
Food Share benefit amounts are based on household size and
monthly net income after deductions.
The lower the net income, the more benefits a household may receive. Only families with very little or no monthly
net income will get the maximum amount of benefits.

Home Energy Plus
Home Energy Plus includes the Wisconsin Home Energy
Assistance Program and the Weatherization Program is a one-time payment each
heating season (October 1 through May 15).
It is intended to help pay a portion of heating costs and is not
intended to pay the total annual heating cost.
The amount of the heating assistance benefit varies according to
household size, income level and household heating costs. Electric Assistance (non-heating) may also
be available.
Who is eligible?
Eligibility for the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance (WHEAP)
and Weatherization services is determined if the gross income for the last
three months. To find out the current
