Hunting on the Jackson County Forest

Jackson County and the Black River State Forest offer over 200,000 acres of public land for the sports person. Many species of game exist on the forest including whitetail deer, turkeys, grouse, black bear and several species of waterfowl.

The forest is dominated by early successional species such as aspen, oak and jack pine creating ideal habitat for local game populations
